Police Reveal Reasons behind Siti Aisyah Missing

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Siti Aisyah went missing one day after arriving at her hometown of Kampung Rancasukur, Serang District on Tuesday, March 12. Aisyah was an Indonesian migrant worker who was tried in Malaysian court with a Vietnamese national for their alleged roles in the murder of Kim Jong-nam, the brother of North Korean leader.
Serang Police Chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Firman Affandi explained that Siti Aisyah intentionally escaped from her house. “Siti Aisyah wanted to calm her mind down and asked Foreign Affairs Ministry to pick her up,” said Firman via a phone call today, March 15.

Firman said that Aisyah was anxious after staying for several hours because of massive hunting by mass media. “She is stressed and wanted to look for a safe place for a temporary time.”
The reason, Firman added, was exposed after three state officials in coordination with Serang Police picked up Siti Aisyah. “We have a responsibility for the security of Aisyah too, so the ministry contacted us when picking her up,” he said.
Three officials of Foreign Affairs Ministry picked up Siti Aisyah on late Wednesday, March 13, at 22:30 local time. “She was picked up by people who took her home,” Firman added.
Siti Aisyah was recently acquitted by Malaysian authorities from murder charges against Kim Jong-nam.
